The Old Library Main Space

The Old Library is a beautifully restored Victorian building and is the last remaining of Birmingham’s five original Free Library’s, opening in 1866. Full of period features, including vaulted ceilings and iconic arch windows, this space will conduct a positive and warm atmosphere. The main space is light and airy, flooded with natural daylight and sure to impress your delegates.

Starting life as the Deritend Library in 1866, this impressive space has stood the test of time and remains the only one of Birmingham’s five original free libraries still standing.

Our main space is split into two by four grand archways. The larger of the two areas can comfortably hold up to 100 delegates in cabaret style seating, with our blinds able to darken the room to your liking for presentations. The smaller of the two areas is home to our bar, and is where your delegates can relax and grab refreshments throughout the day. Your buffet lunch will be served in the adjourning Reading Room with your delegates able to bring their plates back to their tables.

There will be a dedicated member of our team on hand all day to assist with any queries, helping your event to run as smoothly as possible.

 
 

Breakout Spaces

The Reading Room

Just off the entrance foyer to The Old Library, and normally used as our buffet area, is the Reading Room. This private space is perfect as a breakout room for up to 12 delegates. This room has Wifi and flipchart pad & pens included in the room hire rate. The Reading Room can be used as a cloakroom, buffet area or organiser's room.

Nomad Pods

Nomad is our Reception for The Zellig Building and is a fantastic collaborative working space filled with secret pods, a snug with cosy fireplace & a large boardroom table. This relaxed work area is perfect for small group meetings. Free to use as part of your booking, let us know to reserve one.

Zellig 230

Based just opposite The Old Library in our parent building Zellig is 230 our small but perfectly formed meeting room. This meeting room includes a TV screen, WiFi access and refreshment facilities. Zellig 230 can be hired on it's own or in conjunction with the main space as a breakout or organisers room.

 

Our Packages

We offer a range of packages and hire options at The Old Library. For daytime conferences, we have a range of DDR packages to choose from with different lunch options to suit all budgets. We also offer different dry hire options, including half day hire, daytime hire and evening hire. Food and drink menus are available on request for dry hire events.
